South Korean Retail Investors Buy 450 Billion Won in Samsung, SK Hynix Leveraged ETFs on July 24

According to Jin10, on July 24, South Korean retail investors made massive net purchases of single-stock leveraged ETFs worth approximately 450 billion Korean won. The buying reversed a three-day selling streak and targeted Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix leveraged products, with Samsung purchases totaling 103.9 billion won and SK Hynix purchases reaching 350 billion won.

The surge followed sharp market declines on July 24, when the KOSPI index dropped over 5% and Samsung and SK Hynix shares fell 7-8%, causing their leveraged ETFs to plummet 15-16%. Investors were drawn by the steep discounts. Additionally, new margin requirements taking effect on July 31 prompted some retail investors to increase positions before regulations tightened.
