South Korea's Auto Insurance Loss Ratio Deteriorates to 84.1% in H1 2026, Up 1.5 Percentage Points YoY

According to South Korea's insurance industry, the combined loss ratio for auto insurance among five major insurers—Samsung Fire & Marine, DB Insurance, Hyundai Marine & Fire, KB Insurance, and Meritz Fire & Marine—reached 84.1% on a simple average basis for the first half of 2026 as of July 22. This represents a 1.5 percentage point increase compared to the same period last year. For June alone, the five insurers' loss ratio stood at 83.7%, up 1.8 percentage points year-over-year.
