South Korea's Insurance Sector Executes 4.4 Trillion Won in Productive Finance by May

According to the Korea Life Insurance and Non-Life Insurance Association, as of May 2026, South Korea's insurance industry has committed approximately 6.9 trillion won to productive finance, with 4.4 trillion won executed as of that date. The execution rate exceeded 60 percent. DB Insurance and DB Life recently each invested 4.5 billion won and 1.5 billion won respectively into a new technology investment fund jointly established with Shinhan Investment and DB Asset Management. Additionally, NH Nonghyup Life successfully arranged project financing for a battery energy storage system project, marking the first such deal by an insurer in South Korea, with total funding commitments reaching 164.9 billion won.
