According to Barron's, SpaceX stock rebounded 3.1% on July 21, closing at $123.54 and ending a seven-day losing streak that saw the stock fall 21%. The company's shares had dropped roughly 47% from their all-time high of $226 and traded below the $135 initial public offering price for three consecutive days.
Chief Executive Elon Musk warned on X on July 21 that short sellers borrowing SpaceX shares "have very low survival rates." Currently, approximately 17% of SpaceX's tradable shares are sold short—a notably high ratio compared to Apple's roughly 1%—raising the potential for a short squeeze if the stock continues to recover. Analysts, including Macquarie's Paul Golding, cited recent valuations as attractive entry points, with an average analyst target price of $241. SpaceX is set to report second-quarter earnings on August 4 and conduct its Starship test flight on July 23.
