Taiwan Affairs Office Rejects Lai's Pro-Independence Remarks on May 13

According to Taiwan Affairs Office spokesperson Zhang Han on May 13, China’s government rejected Vice President Lai Ching-te’s pro-independence statements made at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit. Zhang stated that there is only one China and Taiwan is an inseparable part of China, a historical and legal fact that cannot be denied. Taiwan has never been and will never be a country, Zhang added, dismissing Lai’s claims as falsehoods that cannot become truth regardless of repetition.
