Telegram CEO Durov Revives Gram Token Brand for TON on Monday, Transition Takes Three Weeks

TON19.17%

Telegram CEO Pavel Durov announced Monday that The Open Network's native cryptocurrency will be renamed Gram, according to his Telegram post. Gram was the original name in TON's first white paper, with Durov stating the project is "returning to our roots." The transition is expected to take approximately three weeks.

The rebrand represents the fourth step in Durov's "Make TON Great Again" (MTONGA) initiative. TON will remain the blockchain's name while Gram becomes the native currency designation. Previous steps included a network upgrade claiming tenfold speed improvements and plans to reduce transaction fees by sixfold.
