Tesla reported a $112 million after-tax Bitcoin loss in Q2 2026 without selling any of its cryptocurrency holdings, according to the company's quarterly financial results. The loss stems entirely from a 14% decline in Bitcoin's price during the quarter, from approximately $83,000 to $58,000 by June 30, which triggered a fair value adjustment under 2024 Financial Accounting Standards Board guidelines requiring quarterly mark-to-market accounting. Tesla holds 11,509 BTC, a position unchanged since 2022. Bitcoin recovered to around $65,840 after quarter-end, but the accounting rules locked in the lower valuation for the quarterly report.
