According to Gene Munster, Managing Partner at Deepwater Asset Management, merger odds between Tesla and SpaceX rose to 90% on July 23, up from 80% prior to Tesla's Q2 earnings call. TSLA shares fell 5% premarket while SPCX rose over 1%.
Munster said Tesla's willingness to discuss merger possibilities during the earnings call was notable, particularly as Elon Musk elaborated on operational overlaps between the two companies, including Starlink, Grok, and Terafab initiatives. Musk stated that Starlink is being integrated into Cybercab and could expand to other Tesla vehicles, while Grok already powers Tesla vehicles and Terafab will support AI chip production for Optimus manufacturing.
