According to Khaosod English, Thai authorities conducted a surprise raid on an illegal Bitcoin mining facility this week after abnormally high power consumption caused surrounding electrical cables to overheat and melt. Investigators found the operation had illegally tapped into the main power grid to supply electricity to multiple mining rigs on the fourth floor of a four-story commercial building, resulting in estimated power losses exceeding $80,000, while the facility’s registered monthly electricity bill was only $11. Police have seized the mining equipment and launched further investigations into those responsible.
