Trump Shares Year-Old Israeli Strike Photo, Claims It Shows New US Attack on Iran

According to a post on Truth Social on July 8, US President Donald Trump shared a photograph of an Israeli strike on an Iranian oil depot from June 2025, claiming it depicted a recent US military attack on Iran. The image showed fire and smoke from the Shahran oil depot strike, but Trump alleged the strike occurred as "retribution for yesterday's bombing of ships by Iran." A news outlet later clarified the photo was not new. The incident follows fresh US strikes on Iran on July 9 after Iranian ship attacks in the Strait of Hormuz earlier in the week, according to CENTCOM. Trump declared the ceasefire agreement reached in June "over," stating he no longer wished to engage with Iran.
