According to Turkey’s central bank, the inflation forecast for the end of 2026 was raised to 26% from the previous projection of 18% on May 14, central bank governor Fatih Karahan said. The upward revision was driven by inflationary pressures stemming from Middle East geopolitical tensions and energy market disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz region, according to the bank’s second inflation report of the year.
