According to China Meteorological Administration, Typhoon Rose (strong tropical storm level), the sixth typhoon of the year, was centered at approximately 310 kilometers southwest of Kagoshima, Japan on the East China Sea on the morning of June 2, at coordinates 29.1°N, 129.0°E. The typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 10 level (25 meters per second) near its center, with a central pressure of 985 hectopascals.
The typhoon is forecast to move northeast at 40-45 kilometers per hour, exiting the East China Sea by midday today and gradually approaching southern Japan's coastal areas. Typhoon Rose will weaken gradually, grazing or making landfall on southern Honshu on June 3 before transitioning into an extratropical cyclone over waters east of Japan.
