According to Sky News, Jess Phillips, UK Safeguarding Minister under Prime Minister Keir Starmer, resigned on May 12. In her resignation letter to Starmer, Phillips wrote: "I believe you are fundamentally a good person who cares about the right things, but from what I have witnessed, it is not enough." She added that the government's reluctance to engage in difficult debates has resulted in stalled progress and delays.
