According to reports, Ukrainian grain exports remain in strong international demand despite transport halting at the Port of Greater Odesa on July 27, as Russia-Ukraine tensions escalated. Alternative shipments are being rerouted through the Danube River and Romania's Constanta Port, though the corridor faces significant constraints. Water levels in the Danube are currently 1.5 meters below normal, limiting capacity to shallow-draft vessels. While the Danube corridor serves as an important backup route, its limited capacity and higher logistics costs cannot fully replace the deep-water facilities at Greater Odesa.
