U.S. Air Force Pilot Shot Down Twice in 30 Days: First by Friendly Fire, Then by Iranian Missile

According to CBS, on June 3, a U.S. Air Force F-15E pilot was shot down twice within a month of combat operations over Iran. The pilot first ejected safely after his aircraft was struck by friendly fire from Kuwaiti forces, and just over 30 days later, his second aircraft was hit by an Iranian air-to-air missile, triggering a major rescue operation. Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. David Deptula called the incident "an extremely unusual coincidence," noting he could not recall such an occurrence since the Vietnam War.
