U.S. Cancels Plans to Sell Tomahawk Missiles to Germany Over Russia Concerns, June 4

According to Politico, on June 4, the U.S. Department of Defense decided to cancel plans to sell Tomahawk cruise missiles to Germany, citing concerns that deploying long-range precision-strike weapons in the heart of Europe could provoke Russian retaliation.

The decision came after the U.S. adjusted its military presence in Europe and reduced troop levels in Germany. German officials had sought the missile purchase to strengthen defense capabilities, but the U.S. also cited insufficient inventory levels as a factor in the cancellation, according to American and European officials cited by the publication.
