U.S. Central Command Halts Strikes on Iran on July 27, Citing Diminishing Effectiveness

According to the U.S. Central Command, the American military has halted strikes on Iran on July 27 after operations reached what Commander Brad Cooper called "the limit of effectiveness." The assessment influenced President Trump's decision to pause military action following nearly two weeks of attacks around the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has also suspended operations against regional targets.

U.S. Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Kain noted that interceptor missile stocks are declining, potentially affecting the U.S. capacity to defend positions and allies. U.S. UN Ambassador Mike Waltz said the pause aims to "create space for diplomacy," with Trump seeking renewed negotiations. Iran and Oman are discussing ceasefire restoration, and the U.S. and UK plan high-level talks in London to form an international coalition for maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz.
