U.S. Confirms Second Scrapie Case in Texas Calf, 5.6 Miles From First

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, a second case of New World screwworm, a deadly parasitic infection, was confirmed in a month-old calf in Zavala County, Texas on Friday evening. The case is approximately 5.6 miles from the first confirmed case identified earlier this week. This marks the first occurrence of the disease in the United States in nearly a decade.
