U.S. Dollar Index Rises 0.11% on May 1, Closes at 98.157

On May 1, the U.S. Dollar Index, which measures the dollar against six major currencies, rose 0.11% and closed at 98.157 in New York forex trading. The euro weakened to 1.1731 against the dollar from 1.1729, while the pound strengthened to 1.3589 from 1.3583. The dollar gained against the yen, trading at 157.02 from 156.49.
