According to Federal Reserve commentator Nick Timiraos, the House Financial Services Committee is reviewing legislation to amend the Federal Reserve Act by removing the Federal Reserve's dual mandate of maximizing employment and stabilizing prices, leaving only price stability as the central bank's focus. The bill would revise Section 2A of the Federal Reserve Act (U.S. Code Title 12, Section 225a) by deleting the employment maximization objective.
