U.S.-Iran Tensions Escalate as Both Sides Harden Negotiating Stances

According to analyst Torbjorn Soltvedt and Jin10, low-intensity clashes between the U.S. and Iran have recently escalated into more intense exchanges despite a fragile ceasefire. Both sides are hardening their negotiating positions: the U.S. believes increased pressure on Iran and patience will yield better terms, while Iran sees blocking the Strait of Hormuz as leverage to secure a more favorable agreement. Soltvedt warned that with U.S. inflation touching a three-year high, the current "extremely unstable environment" could collapse without a formal accord.
