GateNews

According to Jin10, the U.S. Department of Justice launched an investigation on Thursday into a group affiliated with billionaire Reid Hoffman over allegations it partially funded writer E. Jean Carroll's lawsuit against President Trump. The Chicago U.S. Attorney's Office is leading the probe, focusing on potential money laundering and obstruction of justice by the group known as American Future Republic, which covered some of Carroll's legal expenses related to her sexual assault and defamation case against Trump.

Investigators are also examining whether Carroll made false statements under oath in 2022 regarding the sources of her litigation funding.
