U.S. Senate Unanimously Opposes SBF Pardon, Blocks Any Presidential Clemency on July 16

According to CoinDesk, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a non-binding resolution on July 16 opposing any form of presidential pardon or sentence commutation for FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF). The resolution, co-introduced by crypto advocate Cynthia Lummis and Arizona Democratic Senator Ruben Gallego, passed by unanimous consent.

SBF is currently serving a sentence through approximately 2044 after his conviction on seven charges in November 2023 related to FTX's collapse, which resulted in over $8 billion in losses for U.S. customers.
