U.S. Young Adults Living With Parents Hit All-Time High of About 20%

According to John Burns Research & Consulting census data cited by Business Insider on July 8, roughly one-fifth of Americans aged 25-34 are living with parents or grandparents, marking an all-time high. The share had surged during the pandemic in 2020 but declined as mortgage rates fell and employment rebounded. Rising rates in spring 2022 reversed this trend, with homeownership among young adults falling for two consecutive years.
