USD/JPY Falls to 162.062 on July 16 as Japanese Officials Reaffirm Rate Intervention Readiness

According to Yonhap Infomax, the USD/JPY exchange rate fell to 162.062 as of 10:45 AM KST on July 16, down 0.03% from the previous close. The pair declined from around 162.2 yen at the session open to a low of 162.027 yen, pressured by comments from Japanese Finance Minister Katayama Satsuki. Katayama reiterated in parliament that the government is prepared to respond to currency movements, stating the focus should be on strengthening Japan's international competitiveness to maintain confidence in the yen.
