Web3 Early-Stage Funding Shifts Toward Revenue and Equity, Proof of Talk 2026 Report Finds

TOKEN-1.24%
According to Proof of Talk's 2026 report released June 30, Web3 early-stage fundraising is shifting decisively toward revenue-generating companies and equity-based capital structures. Of over 200 startups applying to Proof of Pitch 2026, 44% already generate revenue and 7% report profitability, despite 89% still raising at pre-seed or seed stages. Real-world assets and tokenization have overtaken DeFi as founders' primary focus, cited by 29% of applicants versus 23% for DeFi. Capital structure preferences have reversed sharply: 83% of founders now seek equity exposure through equity-only or hybrid equity-token rounds, while only 5% pursue token-only financing. The shift reflects a maturing landscape where commercial fundamentals increasingly replace narrative-driven dynamics.
