Gate News message, April 17 — According to VesselFinder, a Pakistani-flagged oil tanker entered the Persian Gulf on April 17, becoming the first crude oil-laden vessel to transit through the Strait of Hormuz since the U.S. implemented a blockade on April 13.
The tanker, named Salamar, sailed south of Iran’s Larak Island and entered the Gulf of Oman late on April 16, carrying approximately 450,000 barrels of crude oil loaded from the UAE’s Das Island. The vessel’s destination is listed as Karachi, Pakistan.
