A while ago, I saw someone in the tech community debating whether Dusk would replace Ethereum. I almost burst out laughing—this question is as absurd as asking whether a professional surgical knife will replace everyday tools. I've been involved in smart contracts since 2017, and to be honest: these two are not even competitors in the same league.

Imagine a banquet scene in the blockchain ecosystem. Ethereum is like that versatile socialite, always surrounded by NFT artists, game developers, and creators of various decentralized applications. It can handle any topic—from digital collectibles to virtual assets, and can talk about anything with flair. Dusk, on the other hand, is different. Dressed appropriately and sitting in a corner, it whispers with investment bankers and lawyers about securitization processes, cross-border clearing and settlement compliance, holding not fine wine but dense regulatory framework documents.

This difference has been decided since the moment of its birth. Ethereum aims to be a "world computer," pursuing maximum versatility and infinite imagination space. Dusk clearly defines its identity from the start—financial infrastructure, with all code and mechanisms revolving around a core: compliant asset transfer. Just as you wouldn’t use a Swiss Army knife for delicate surgery, nor should you use medical knives to open cans. The tool’s purpose is to precisely fit the scenario.

Regarding Dusk’s design philosophy, four targeted optimization dimensions are particularly evident. First is privacy compliance—most of Ethereum’s privacy solutions are added later, like applying a frosted film on transparent glass, which always feels awkward. Dusk embeds privacy mechanisms into its underlying architecture, considering data protection and regulatory needs from the ground up. The difference is significant.

Haha, that's a great analogy, but to be honest, Dusk still lags far behind in popularity. Ethereum's ecosystem is simply on a different level. That logic is clear—it's like comparing Go and chess to see which is stronger; they're fundamentally different. I agree, especially when it comes to financial compliance, there definitely needs to be a dedicated chain; you can't just pile everything onto Ethereum. But I'm concerned whether Dusk's privacy solutions can really compete. Are there any practical use cases or implementations? Long-time community members who have been here since 2017 speak differently—such rational analysis is too rare in the community. The dinner analogy really cracked me up—one is a playboy, the other a Wall Street elite; their nature is completely different. The underlying architecture integrating privacy is indeed more reliable than the solutions added later. So in the end, Dusk might still become a niche chain. The real question is whether its ecosystem can grow. Can compliance and innovation coexist? It seems chains focused solely on compliance never really take off. How is the Dusk ecosystem doing now? Are there any killer applications?

Ha, here comes the same old "whoever eliminates whom" argument again. I'm already tired of it. Ethereum and Dusk are truly two things from different dimensions. Comparing them just seems amateurish. Dusk's underlying design for privacy is indeed comfortable, but Ethereum's ecosystem is so vast that everyone trying to make a move is there—that's the reality. Dusk is quite focused on compliant finance, but how much of it can actually be implemented still depends on what follows. Having only framework documents isn't enough. Both paths can be taken; there's no need to negate each other. Living your own life is pretty good.

Haha, this is hilarious. Someone is actually arguing about this, I’m completely defenseless. --- The dinner analogy is perfect: one is dancing at a club, the other is in a board meeting. How do you compare? --- After 2017, I finally understand that they are not on the same path at all. --- Dusk’s underlying privacy design is indeed impressive, but does Ethereum need it? That’s the real question. --- Basically, one aims to be all-round, while the other specializes in finance. Don’t force a comparison, brother. --- That part about investment bank lawyers made me laugh; the sarcasm was quite spot on. --- But can Dusk really implement those compliance frameworks, or is it just another pie in the sky? --- The inclusiveness of the Ethereum ecosystem is its core competitive advantage. Dusk will never catch up in this regard. --- Using a knife as a metaphor is very appropriate; it’s about who can master their own track deeply and thoroughly.

Haha, this kind of question really deserves to be muted, no culture --- The dinner analogy is perfect. Ethereum is the universal solvent, Dusk is the professional knife, each playing their own game --- Everyone who got involved in 2017 understands, these are basically two different tracks. It's ridiculous to compare them --- The privacy embedded at the underlying layer is indeed impressive. The patches on ETH's approach do seem a bit low-end --- The comparison between a surgical knife and a Swiss Army knife is just perfect, I totally get it --- Honestly, Dusk's compliance framework might be the future direction of financial infrastructure, but it's still too niche right now --- Exactly, why does someone have to die? Is coexisting really that difficult?

Another "某某 will take down 某某" fantasy collaboration, the question is ridiculous—two different tracks, what are you arguing about? --- Alright, that dinner metaphor is perfect—one is flying all over the place, the other is in the corner polishing regulatory documents. Could they be competitors? I think we might have got it backwards. --- Embedding privacy mechanisms at the underlying layer is quite interesting, and theoretically feasible. Whether it can be practically implemented depends on the data. --- Haha, treating privacy solutions as a post-launch patch again. The Ethereum frosted film metaphor is spot on, but the real challenge is how to implement it effectively. --- Financial infrastructure specialization vs. universal computing—these are in completely different dimensions. Some people debating this is really quite something. --- Luban No. 7 is under construction again. Dusk's compliant architecture alone, just the logical design, could take half a year to sort out. --- Let's do a small experiment to compare underlying privacy designs, but the risk might be on this side. --- An old-timer who has been around since 2017 says that the difference in these two lines is just who is more elegant. --- Maximize academic value, but whether this can truly shake up traditional finance is the real point.

Haha, this old chestnut again, I'm already tired of it. Ethereum and Dusk are really not comparable; one is a grocery store and the other is a vault. Comparing them directly is just ridiculous. --- But to be honest, Dusk's approach to privacy from the ground up does have some substance, unlike ETH which feels more like patching things up. --- I trust what the veteran who entered in 2017 says; it's indeed not the same track. --- Financial infrastructure vs. computing, the positioning is way too different, there's really no need for debate. --- Wait, do you mean Dusk is doing something at the institutional level? No wonder the gameplay is so different; small investors simply can't access it. --- The analogy of a scalpel versus a Swiss Army knife is pretty good; I'll use it. --- I need to look into this privacy embedding at the bottom layer, but Ethereum not changing its architecture for so many years probably has its reasons, right?
