Hal Finney's widow Fran hosts the Running Bitcoin Challenge every year to commemorate this important figure in Bitcoin history. Now in its fifth edition, the event has attracted more and more enthusiasts to participate.

The way to join the event is simple—walk or run 21 kilometers. This distance has special significance, as it is close to the standard marathon distance, and more importantly, it pays tribute to Bitcoin's total supply of 21 million.

On January 11, 2009, Hal Finney became the first person other than Satoshi Nakamoto to receive a Bitcoin transaction. This historic moment is widely regarded as the true beginning of the Bitcoin network. Through the Running Bitcoin Challenge, cryptocurrency enthusiasts around the world measure this special distance with their steps, using action to commemorate and carry forward the spirit of Bitcoin.
