Recently, many people have been asking what the OpenMind project is. To put it simply: this is not just another AI application, but an attempt to create the "underlying operating system + collaboration network" for the robot world.

The core logic is divided into two layers. The first layer is OM1, which you can think of as the Android for robots. It’s not a control software exclusive to a certain hardware manufacturer, but a truly AI-native, hardware-neutral robot operating system. Perception, planning, execution—this set of functions allows different types of robots to run the same intelligent logic—this is what an operating system should do.

The second layer is the interesting part. It’s called the FABRIC protocol. What does it do? It provides decentralized identity, task collaboration, and data recording capabilities for robots. In simple terms, it enables decentralized robots and devices from different teams to work together within the same network, rather than operating separately. This also explains why the project integrates blockchain into its underlying architecture, rather than just focusing on AI models.

From a funding perspective, the project has a solid lineup. They raised around $20 million in 2025, with institutions like Pantera, Coinbase Ventures, DCG, and Ribbit Capital participating—typical of the "long-term technology track" investment logic.

More importantly, the way they are building the ecosystem. Instead of just shouting slogans, they are actively involving ordinary users and developers: identity Minting, point-based tasks, real data collection, developer Hackathons. This clearly aims to accumulate momentum for large-scale network cold start.

Honestly, OpenMind is not a project for short-term hype. It bets on who will serve as the universal coordination layer once AI agents truly enter the physical world. If robot collaboration at scale becomes a reality in the future, the position of the operating system and collaboration protocol will always be the most valuable. Such projects may not be very hot in the short term, but once they succeed, the ceiling will be very high.
