Large social media platform data breach alert: approximately 17.5 million user records exposed. According to a security company's report, this leak involves sensitive data such as usernames, email addresses, phone numbers, and physical addresses. Even more concerning, this information has already flowed to the dark web and is being sold publicly.

What does this mean for encrypted users? The leaked contact information can be easily exploited for targeted phishing attacks. Scammers may lure you to click malicious links under the guise of password resets, security verifications, and more, thereby taking over your account. Once your social media account is compromised, your subsequent exchange accounts, wallets, and other assets may also be at risk.

Reports indicate that this incident may have originated from a 2024 API vulnerability on the platform. This serves as a reminder: no matter how large the platform, security vulnerabilities can occur at any time. It is recommended to immediately check whether such accounts have been accessed abnormally, and enable two-factor authentication(2FA) to protect your assets. Don’t let a single leak turn into an asset risk.
