Ethereum co-founder Vitalik recently shared his thoughts on the open-source plan of the X platform. He believes that Elon Musk's push for open source code is a good direction, but the key lies in the implementation details.

In his view, a 4-week delayed release cycle sounds too aggressive, and he recommends extending it to 1 year for more stability—this can effectively prevent data manipulation. However, the real highlight should focus on verifiability: allowing users to run the code themselves to directly verify the absence of hidden censorship or weight suppression behaviors.

Vitalik emphasized that delaying the publication of tweet data and anonymous like counts, combined with mechanisms that enable users to replicate and verify, can truly address market concerns about algorithm transparency. This is not only about trust but also about the healthy operation of the platform's ecosystem.

Vitalik still understands, open source is easy to implement but hard to execute, and truly enabling users to verify is more important than anything else.

Vitalik is rambling again, 4 weeks to a year? Dude, are you treating open source like a slow-motion movie? But to be fair, verifiability is indeed a mysterious aspect. Users running code to verify invisible censorship... sounds great in theory, but how many people will actually do it?

Vitalik is still a Dogecoin enthusiast. Now he's starting to manage other platforms' code?

It should be pointed out that Vitalik's argumentation framework actually misses a key point — user verifiability on centralized platforms is essentially a false proposition, you understand.

Vitalik really hit the nail on the head this time, but on the other hand, can the X platform really be implemented? It still feels like just talk.

Haha, Vitalik is still the same. A one-year delay sounds stable, but considering the three-year cycle, it's really nothing. Let's wait and see. How many years have we been talking about algorithm transparency? How many have actually been implemented? Instead of armchair strategizing, it's better to let ordinary people run code first. Verifiability is indeed the core, but who bears the cost? That's the key.
