Wall Street is making new moves again. Goldman Sachs is taking quite a big step—CEO David Solomon openly stated during the recent earnings call that the company has deployed a large team to research tokenized assets and stablecoins, aiming to understand how these new innovations can empower trading and advisory services. This is not a small fringe project but a core strategic initiative driven by the entire senior management team.
Even more interesting is the prediction market segment. Solomon revealed that earlier this year he personally met with executives from two leading industry platforms and discussed for several hours. Although he didn't specify who they were, his frequent emphasis on compliance suggests they are likely platforms regulated by the CFTC. Solomon believes that prediction markets have clear overlaps with Goldman Sachs' existing business units, and the company is evaluating how to integrate them into its institutional service framework.
The underlying logic is quite straightforward: traditional financial giants see the potential in on-chain finance and derivatives markets and aim to position themselves through policy lobbying and business exploration. Goldman Sachs' actions in Washington are also accelerating to ensure future regulatory rules are friendly to the banking industry. The chances of this strategic layout succeeding are quite high—after all, Goldman Sachs' scale and influence are significant.
