Gate News: On March 16, the U.S. Army announced a 10-year contract with defense technology company Anduril (5-year base period + 5-year renewal option) valued at up to $20 billion, covering Anduril’s hardware, software, infrastructure, and services. This contract consolidates over 120 previously separate procurement actions into a single enterprise-level agreement. U.S. Department of Defense Chief Information Officer CTO Gabe Chiulli stated that the modern battlefield is increasingly software-defined, and to maintain an advantage, it is essential to acquire and deploy software capabilities quickly and efficiently. Anduril was co-founded by Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey, who shifted to defense entrepreneurship after being fired from Facebook in 2017. The company generated approximately $2 billion in revenue last year and is currently raising a new round of funding at a valuation of $60 billion.
