Boston Dynamics' Spot Robot Trials Last-Mile Delivery, Fills 'Final Meter Gap' in Autonomous Logistics

According to Business Insider on July 15, Boston Dynamics is piloting its four-legged robot Spot as a delivery agent to solve the final-meter delivery challenge. The robot rides in delivery trucks, then exits to walk packages to customers' doorsteps using a mounted conveyor belt. BI noted that while existing robots handle most of the delivery route, Spot is specifically designed to address the doorstep gap that remains difficult for autonomous systems to navigate.
