BTC 15-minute short-term rally up 0.85%: heightened Iran-Iraq conflict triggers safe-haven buying

From 15:00 to 15:15 UTC on July 20, 2026, BTC rapidly surged in the short term. Within 15 minutes, the return rate reached +0.88%. The price rose from 64,415.9 USDT to 64,985.7 USDT, with an amplitude of 0.88%. Over the past 24 hours, BTC is up about 0.77%, recovering from a low near $63,734 to around $64,955, with the overall trading range remaining at $63,733.8–$65,106.6.

The main driver of this unusual move is the continued escalation of the military conflict between the US and Iran, which has intensified geopolitical safe-haven sentiment. The US launched its ninth consecutive overnight airstrike on multiple Iranian cities (including Tabriz and Chabahar). The Iranian president announced a “full-scale war” state, and Iran threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz, pushing oil prices up 3.8% in a single day to above $90 per barrel—the highest since June 11. Safe-haven funds flowed into non-sovereign assets, and BTC’s “digital gold” narrative was reinforced again, gaining bid support.

Second, expectations that the Fed will raise rates have capped upside momentum. The market has priced in an 82% probability of a rate hike in December, limiting BTC’s upside room, so the 0.77% rise can be seen as relatively minor fluctuations rather than a dramatic move. At the same time, sustained net inflows into BTC spot ETFs, along with the long-term narrative of multiple countries building Bitcoin reserves, provides bottom support for the price. Order book data shows bids are significantly deeper than asks, with a bid-to-ask depth ratio of 7.03. At $64,956.5, there is a large buy wall (0.3622 BTC), suggesting stronger near-term downside support.

It’s worth noting that the current K-line filled amount is only 148.48 BTC, at a relatively low level, indicating limited market participation, with medium attribution confidence. Price has approached the 24h high of $65,106.6, so near-term resistance remains ahead. Investors should watch whether the US–Iran conflict further escalates, whether Iran actually blocks the Strait of Hormuz, whether oil prices break above $100, and any subsequent remarks from Fed officials. For short-term support, focus on the $64,167–$63,734 range. Resistance is at $65,107; if BTC can break above $65,100 with increased volume, it may open room for a move toward $66,000–$67,000.
