Cardano to Transfer Six Core Components to Independent Firms from August

ADA2.48%
According to Input Output, Cardano will hand development of six core software components to independent specialist firms starting from August 2026, with the transition continuing into 2027. The components include the Haskell node (which validates blocks and maintains consensus), Plutus smart-contract platform, Daedalus desktop wallet, Hydra layer-2 system, and Mithril stake-based signature protocol. Teragone Solutions already stewards Mithril, while VacuumLabs works on Plutus co-development. CEO Charles Hoskinson said the move represents the "final stage" of Cardano's "Voltaire era," achieving "full decentralization of node and reference blueprint development." Input Output stated it will name additional partners "as agreements are finalized," with timelines and features "not final or guaranteed."
