Cardano Builder Input Output to Hand Over Core Infrastructure to Outside Teams Starting August

Input Output announced it will transfer control of Cardano's core blockchain infrastructure to external development teams, beginning in August and continuing into 2027. The handover covers the Cardano Haskell node, Plutus smart-contract platform, Daedalus wallet, Hydra scaling technology, and developer relations.

Specialist firms Se7en Labs and Teragone will take responsibility for portions of the work. The move aligns with Cardano's Voltaire era roadmap, which aims to shift protocol governance and operational control away from Input Output toward community curation. The plan calls for developing at least three Cardano implementations in Haskell, Rust, and Go to reduce dependence on a single codebase and improve network resilience.
