CFTC Charges North Carolina Man Trevor Vernon with $14 Million Crypto and Futures Fraud on July 8

According to The Block, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on July 8 charged Trevor Vernon and his company Argent Capital Management LLC with defrauding approximately 60 investors of $14 million through a fraudulent commodity pool. The pool traded stock index futures options, equity index futures contracts, and crypto assets. Vernon misrepresented himself as a successful trader through quarterly financial updates and monthly performance emails while actually sustaining losses of at least $8.6 million across futures, options, and crypto trades. Vernon and his company were not registered with the CFTC and falsely claimed registration status.
