China and Australia Convene 18th Ministerial Economic Committee on May 21

According to Jin10, on May 21, China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and Australian Trade and Tourism Minister Farrell jointly convened the 18th China-Australia ministerial-level economic committee in Suzhou. Both sides exchanged views on deepening bilateral economic cooperation and strengthening collaboration in regional and multilateral areas. Wang emphasized that amid complex global economic recovery and evolving geopolitical tensions, deepening cooperation serves both nations and promotes regional stability. Farrell stated Australia highly values the bilateral economic relationship and is willing to advance the China-Australia free trade agreement review and deepen cooperation in traditional and emerging sectors. Australia welcomes China's role as 2026 APEC host and pledges to maintain communication on regional and multilateral trade issues.
