China's LNG Imports Rebound to 4.9 Million Tons in May, Reversing Prior Decline

According to Bloomberg ship-tracking data, China's liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports rebounded to 4.9 million tons in May, slightly above the prior-year level. This reverses a multi-month decline caused by Middle East supply disruptions. April saw LNG inflows fall to an eight-year low as higher prices from Strait of Hormuz transit restrictions dampened demand. Deliveries from Qatar have been offset by increased volumes from Canada, Malaysia, Oman, and Russia.
