Chinese Real Estate Entrepreneur Kidnapped in Cambodia, Murdered After $2M Crypto Ransom Demand Fails

According to ChainCatcher citing Cambodian media outlet Kohsantepheap Daily, Yang Weixin, a 53-year-old Chinese real estate entrepreneur, was kidnapped in Phnom Penh on May 29 evening. Kidnappers demanded $2 million in cryptocurrency through the victim's phone on May 30 morning but received no ransom, subsequently killing him and abandoning his body in a vehicle.

Surveillance footage shows three suspects forcibly removing the victim from his residential parking lot on May 29 evening. Local police have confirmed the case as kidnapping, extortion, and murder, with investigations ongoing.
