Claude Desktop Blocks Third-Party Models with Whitelist Filter in May 6 Update

According to Beating, Claude Desktop pushed version 1.6259.1 on May 6, introducing model ID whitelist filtering in its third-party Gateway mode. The update restricts the interface to only display models with IDs starting with "claude" or "anthropic", effectively blocking access to non-Anthropic models like GPT, Grok, and DeepSeek previously accessible through OpenRouter. Ollama users reported that while their gateway returned 39 models, Claude Desktop displayed zero available after the filter. Claude Code CLI 2.1.129, released the same day, also tightened Gateway integration by changing model discovery from automatic to opt-in, requiring manual environment variable configuration.
