CNBC's Jim Cramer Warns Nvidia Funding Structure Mirrors Pre-2000 Dot-Com Bubble Pattern

According to Jim Cramer on CNBC's Mad Money on July 27, Nvidia's discussion of supporting OpenAI's data center project financing mirrors dangerous funding patterns that preceded the 2000 dot-com collapse. Cramer noted that Nvidia's reported consideration of backing OpenAI's up-to-$250 billion Ohio data center campus echoes the 1990s telecommunications equipment industry, where suppliers financed customer purchases only to face massive losses when customers could not sustain costs. Cramer stated, "The lesson we learned in 2000 is you should not lend money to companies that buy your products." He acknowledged Nvidia remains a strong company but warned that without OpenAI securing independent funding such as through an IPO, the broader AI sector faces similar systemic risks.
