According to a ruling by the United States District Court for the District of Delaware on May 29, 2026, Judge Gregory B. Williams dismissed a patent infringement lawsuit filed by Australian fintech Identitii Limited against JPMorgan Chase, invalidating the disputed 413 Patent under U.S. patent law's Alice doctrine standard. The court determined the patent lacked novel technical innovation and could be implemented on existing blockchain infrastructure, including Ripple's protocol, finding it failed to meet patent eligibility requirements under Section 101 of U.S. patent law.
