EIA Cuts 2026-2027 Brent Crude Forecasts by Over $10/bbl to $82 and $65 Respectively

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration's (EIA) Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO) released today, the agency lowered its Brent crude oil price forecasts for 2026 to $82/bbl from a prior estimate of $95/bbl, and for 2027 to $65/bbl from $79/bbl.

The EIA also raised its 2026 U.S. crude oil production forecast to 13.8 million barrels per day (mb/d) from 13.7 mb/d, though it trimmed the 2027 outlook to 14 mb/d from 14.2 mb/d. U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports were projected at 17.4 billion cubic feet per day in 2026, slightly up from the prior 17.2 bcf/d.
