EU Bans AI-Generated Deepfake Pornography on May 7

According to Xinhua News Agency, on May 7, EU Parliament members and member states reached consensus to ban artificial intelligence systems from generating deepfake pornographic content. The prohibition will be incorporated into amendments to the 2024 Artificial Intelligence Act. European Parliament member Michael McNamara stated this marks the first time the EU has legislatively prohibited such "deepfake" applications, with the bloc establishing a clear boundary against AI misuse for harassment or exploitation.
