According to the Ministry of Commerce on May 28, China's commerce ministry spokesman He Yadong said the EU's plan to implement new steel tariffs on July 1 is protectionist and will severely disrupt China-EU steel trade and destabilize global supply chains. China is negotiating with the EU within the WTO framework and hopes to reach a mutually beneficial agreement. The ministry stated that if the EU discriminates against Chinese companies, China will take countermeasures to protect its legitimate rights.
