FAO Food Price Index Rises to 130.7 Points in April, Up 1.6% on Month

According to data released by the Food and Agriculture Organization on May 8, the FAO Food Price Index reached 130.7 points in April, up 1.6% from March and 2.0% year-over-year. The increase marks the third consecutive monthly rise.

The increase was driven by rising energy costs and logistics disruptions caused by Middle East conflicts, which have impacted agricultural production and supply chains globally.
