Google Launches Googlebook, New AI-Powered Notebook Category Ending 15-Year Chromebook Era

According to Beating, Google officially launched Googlebook, a new notebook category that marks the end of Chromebook’s 15-year cloud-first era. The device combines ChromeOS and Android technology stacks, powered natively by Gemini, with first devices launching this fall.

Googlebook will be manufactured by Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, each featuring Google’s distinctive Glowbar light strip as a visual identifier for the new category. The move represents Google’s response to Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC and Apple’s Mac ecosystem, aiming to bring its global mobile platform to desktop computing.
